Even with the lure of a picnic and stream dabbling, it was like extracting teeth getting the kids out into this paradisial landscape but they rallied soon enough. It was just too beautiful out there to sustain a grump. We spied butterflies, snakes, hawks, deer, squirrels, conks, wildflowers, sunchokes, skippers, nests and faerie caves so there wasn't much to complain about. I wonder if the kids realize how dang lucky we are to live in this incredible place.
